The
work of Christ is continued in the Church
through the Body of Christ. As baptized and
confirmed Christians we have been given gifts
and are called, by Christ, to continue his work
of the salvation for humanity and transformation
of the world. When lay people carry out
Christ’s work as priest, prophet, and king in
public activity authorized by the Church, this
is lay ministry.
Lay Ministry is a Diocesan Ministry which
provides formation of lay people for fulfillment
of their baptismal call to build the Kingdom of
God in meeting the needs of the parish, the
church, and the world. It is a four year
formation process which consists of two years of
monthly weekend seminars and an additional two
years of internship. Seminars include
scripture, core theological topics and an
introduction to pastoral skills in addition to
spiritual formation and ministry supervision.
