One of the distinguishing features of being Catholic is our sacraments.  Sacraments celebrate the mystery of God’s action in our lives and world in a rich symbolic way.  As a faith community we take preparation for sacraments very seriously.  This is part of our heritage as Catholic Christians.  Our expectation for individuals or families considering participation in a sacramental preparation program:


Registered and participating member of the parish for a minimum of three months.

Baptism - top of page

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated several times a year.  Adults wishing to be baptized must participate in the Rites of Christian Initiation (RCIA).  Unbaptized adults will be baptized at the Easter Vigil.  Contact person: Connie Kaczynski (662-6861)

 

Infant baptisms are celebrated at the weekend liturgies on the second weekend of the month.  At least one parent must be a registered participating member of the parish.  Parents are required to attend a preparation class prior to the baptism.  Attending class during pregnancy is encouraged.   There are no baptisms during Lent.

First Eucharist and Confirmation 

Children of our parish who are baptized and have received previous instruction in Catholic Faith may join a class to prepare for First Communion and Confirmation.  The class typically begins in December to early January, with celebration taking place during the Easter season.  Eligibility to participate in the sacramental programs is dependent upon the following factors: 

 

- must be registered parishioner with evidence of family participation at weekend liturgies

- current enrollment in parish sponsored religious education program or Auburn Area Catholic School

- participation in a religious education program the previous year

- parish participation is to be encouraged in various church ministries including financial stewardship

- commitment to church attendance after reception of first-time sacrament.

Adult Confirmation

For adults who have been baptized, received First Eucharist and now choose to be confirmed.  Classes are offered yearly and consist of 4 weeks of prayerful study and preparation.

Reconciliation - top of page

Confessions are scheduled on Saturdays, 11:00 am at St. Anthony or any time by appointment call 662-6861. 

 

Anointing of the Sick 

Communal anointing of the sick is celebrated yearly in the Fall.  Individual anointing is year round by appointment call 662-6861.  We encourage parishioners to notify the parish when experiencing serious illness, accident, or hospitalization.  Due to confidentiality restrictions, several hospitals will no longer notify the parish.

 
 


Marriage - top of page

Preparation for marriage must begin at least six months prior to the wedding date.  Before the wedding date the parish preparation program must have been completed.  At least one of the engaged must be a registered member of the parish.   Arrangements are made by contacting the Parish Office for an appointment with the Pastor. 

 

Holy Orders

Parishioners sensing a call to religious life and wishing to explore that desire further can do so by contacting the Parish Office for an appointment with the Pastor.
